Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

Purpose

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was established to recommend to the City Council the need for facilities and programs and to hear citizens’ concerns and suggestions for the City’s Parks and Recreation departments.

Membership and Term Length

Membership of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board shall consist of individuals representing as wide of a variety of community interests as possible. The Committee shall be comprised of five (5) persons, each serving a term of four (4) years.  Appointees may include such members of the abolished Parkland and Facilities Committee as the Mayor may select, and/or such other persons as the Mayor may select.  The Mayor shall also appoint a Council Liaison to the Board who shall ensure regular communication between the Board and the Council.

Powers and Duties

  • To make recommendations to the City Council regarding the need for new parkland and/or recreation locations and capital improvements to existing parks and recreation facilities;
  • To assist with development of a Parks Master Plan; and
  • To hear citizen recommendations and complaints on parks and recreation issues.
